Lance Huthwaite, DMD

Dr. Lance Huthwaite has been practicing dentistry in Gainesville since 1994. He is a graduate of Wake Forest University and the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry. Dr. Huthwaite enjoys receiving many hours of continuing education each year. This allows him to provide his patients with the newest procedures and latest technology in an effort to create the most comfortable dental experience possible. Much of this training occurs at the Center for Advanced Dental Studies and the Scottsdale Center for Dentistry.

Dr. Huthwaite is a member of the Northern District Dental Society, the Georgia Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Hinman Dental Society. He is also a proud member of the American Academy of Facial Esthetics and is certified in the administration of BOTOX® for the treatment of TMJ pain, bruxism, and migraine headaches as well as the use of BOTOX and dermal fillers for cosmetic purposes.

In his free time, Dr. Huthwaite enjoys cooking, photography, music, winemaking, and golf. He and his wife Vivian are blessed to be raising three wonderful girls – Addie, Lexi, and Cosette.

Amy Huthwaite, DMD

Dr. Amy, CFO and co-owner of Huthwaite Family Dentistry, graduated from Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in 1994. She was inspired to become a dentist when her mother was diagnosed with oral cancer during Amy’s first year of college. She took time off from college to help care for her mother during the grueling months of surgeries and radiation treatments. Although the prognosis was not good, her mother survived. Twenty years later, Dr. Amy is proud to have her mom as a true success story: cancer free with a beautiful smile! Dr. Amy pledges to treat each and every patient as she would want herself or a member of her family to be treated.

Dr. Amy is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Georgia Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the Hinman Dental Society, and the Northern District Dental Society. She volunteers regularly at the Green Warren Dental Clinic associated with Good News at Noon. She has been a member of the Gainesville Kiwanis Club for which she has chaired several committees and has served four years as board member. Dr. Amy also served on the Board of Trustees of Brenau University.

Originally from Wilmington, NC, Dr. Amy now lives in Dawsonville, GA, with her two daughters, Addison and Cosette. She also has a dog named Elmo and cats Elvis and Sesame. Dr. Amy is an avid reader and enjoys cooking, sewing, camping, and jogging. Her favorite thing to do, however, is to spend time spoiling her daughters with love and laughter!

Lori Fortner, RDH

Lori has been with the practice for thirty years. A native of Cleveland, Georgia, she is a 1979 graduate of White County High School (“Go Warriors”). She received her Associate of Arts Degree in Dental Hygiene from Clayton State College in Morrow, Georgia in 1981 where she served as Dental Hygiene Class President.

She and her husband Tommy, who is an electrical contractor, have been married since 1993. They currently reside in Cleveland, Georgia, along with their 16 year old son, Cade, a student at White County High School. All three are very involved at Mt. View Baptist Church in Cleveland. Bluegrass music and baseball keep them on the road. When they can find some down time, they love to go camping, “but not tent camping”‘ Lori says. She loves her fifth wheel.

Lori is frequently asked how she has managed to stay at one office for so long. Her answer is simply, “the patients”. Many have watched her grow up and are like her extended family. “We laugh, compare stories and photos, and sometimes even cry together, but they always leave with a happy, healthy smile”.

Marcie King, RDH

Marcie graduated from Gainesville State College and Lanier Technical College in 2004 and joined the Huthwaite practice that same year. Prior to her dental hygiene education, she worked as a dental assistant for six years. She and her husband Jason live in Banks County, along with their handsome son Aiden. Marcie and Jason also enjoy raising their dog: April, a fifteen year old springer spaniel. Marcie also enjoys gardening, other outdoor activities, and spending time with Aiden.

Michelle Glaze-Bailey, Dental Coordinator

Michelle is originally from Gainesville, Georgia, but now resides in Lawrenceville. She has over 29 years of experience in the dental field – 19 of which were spent serving as a dental assistant to Dr. Jeff Carstens prior to joining the Huthwaite practice in 2004. Michelle graduated from Gainesville High School in 1983, and received her training as a certified dental assistant from Lanier Technical Institute in 1984. Her daughter, Amber, graduated Albany State in 2010, and is engaged to be married in June 2015 in the Bahamas. Michelle’s stepson, Dezmond, is a student in Gwinnett County Public Schools. Michelle is married to Jerramie, a barber and current ministry student at Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Lilburn, Georgia, were they both are members. In her free time, she enjoys walking her dogs, Mojo and Diva, shopping, and exercising. She really enjoys working with the public and says her favorite quote is: “Never lose sight of the fact that the most important yardstick of your success will be how you treat other people – your family, friends, and co-workers, and even strangers you meet along the way.

Lavette Cathey, Dental Assistant

Lavette Cathey is a lifetime resident of Gillsville, Georgia. She is a mother to three beautiful young women and a proud grandmother. She is an experienced, expanded duties dental assistant of 30 years. Lavette aspires to provide quality dental care within a caring enjoyable atmosphere for both patient and staff. She strives each and every day to be supportive of others, with kindness, encouragement, compassion and acceptance. Lavette is a believer. She loves her family, home, community and her country. Life is Good. God is GREAT!

Carole Ausborn, Dental Assistant

Carole has been assisting Dr. Lance Huthwaite for many years and takes pride in making sure her patients feel welcome and remain comfortable during their visits. She is married to Ken and she has two grown boys, Chris and John. Her hobbies include reading, swimming, and gardening.

Christy Waldrep, Hygiene Assistant

Christy has been working for the Huthwaite practice since 1998 as a hygiene assistant. She feels very fortunate to be trained in office for this specific job. She has been married to her wonderful husband Ben since 1999 and they now have a beautiful precious baby girl Alayna, who is the light of their lives! Christy loves spending time with her family. They are faithful members of New Holland Baptist Church. They love to travel! One of their goals in life is to travel to all fifty states and then expand their horizons across the globe with Alayna in tow.

Jazmin Blakely, Insurance Coordinator

Born in Gainesville and raised in Elberton, Jazmin graduated from Elbert County High School. She attended Lanier Technical College graduating with honors from the dental assisting program. She has worked for Drs. Lance and Amy Huthwaite since 2004. Jazmin and her husband Patrick have two beautiful daughters, Zaria and Zoe, and one handsome son, Patrick, Jr. Her family attends Faithful Christian Worship Center in Gainesville, Georgia. Jazmin enjoys watching a good murder mystery on television and spending time with her family and friends.

Kim Escobar, Front Office Manager

Kim lives in Cumming, Georgia, with her husband Estevan and her two children – Trevor, 18, and Olivia, 10, and their white lab “Sophie.” She came to work for the Huthwaite practice in 2004 after having been a patient herself for two years. She really enjoys all of the direct contact she has with patients and always looks forward to welcoming new patients to our office. Kim’s hobbies include boating, music, and spending time with her family.
