Do you ever have a hard time getting your child out the door for their dental appointments? If so, our Huthwaite & Huthwaite, D.M.D., PC team is more than happy to help you! There are a few things you can do to help your child feel more comfortable, confident, and calm in the dental chair, and those things are:

-Bring them with you when you come in for your checkups. Seeing their parent in the dental chair will help them feel like they can do it as well.

-When talking about your dental visits and treatments, try not to use negative words like “pain,” “needle,” “hurt,” etc.

-Play “dentist” at home instead of “house” to help your child become familiar with the process of a dental cleaning and checkup.

-Ask your dentist, Dr. Lance W. Huthwaite, how he explains dental treatment to children. The soft, comforting words will help you explain treatments to your child without scaring them.

-If your child asks you questions about dental visits and treatments, answer them honestly and sensitively.

Our dental team wants your child to have the best experience possible at our dental office, so please help us help your child. If you have any questions about how to help your child enjoy visiting their dentist in Gainesville, Georgia, please call our office today at 770-536-8868 and talk to a member of our dental team.
